A privately produced description of the Vanuatu citizenship and passport process: the sequence of stages, what each requires, who acts at which point and what is payable when. It is published because accurate procedural information about this programme is scarce, not because anyone commissioned it.

Independence from the authorities

No part of this site emanates from the Government of Vanuatu or carries its approval. It is not the Citizenship Office, the Citizenship Commission, the Financial Intelligence Unit or the Department of Immigration, exercises no function on their behalf, and holds no designation from any of them. Those institutions are named throughout because the process cannot be described without naming them.

General description, not advice

A description of how a programme works is not counsel about your position in it. What applies to you depends on your nationality, your residence, your family and the history of your money, none of which this site knows. Reading these pages establishes no professional relationship and replaces no adviser who has examined your circumstances.

Outcomes lie elsewhere

Grants of citizenship are made by the Vanuatu Citizenship Commission in its discretion. Nobody outside it can assure you of approval, fix a completion date or recover a fee for work already performed. The due diligence fee is expressly not returned where a check is failed. Periods quoted anywhere on this site reflect what agents report, not an undertaking by any authority.

Information ages

Fees, eligibility and travel arrangements are altered by the bodies responsible for them, at times with little notice. What appears here was verified against official sources on the date accompanying each page and may since have been superseded. Verify anything load-bearing with the relevant authority before relying on it.

On travel access specifically

Where these pages describe which countries admit this passport, they describe the position as published at the time of writing. Admission is determined by each destination and alters without notice. Two alterations deserve repetition because so much material predates them: the European Union withdrew visa-free access in February 2023, and the United Kingdom placed Vanuatu on its visa national list in July 2023. Confirm requirements with the destination before travelling.

Matters outside anyone's control

Most of an application consists of documents produced by others — police authorities, registries, notaries, translators, apostille offices — each with its own rules and pace. When those change, the requirements and timescales described here change with them, and no adviser or agent directs any of them.
